U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents can apply for TSA Pre✓® by providing biographic information, fingerprints, payment, and identity and citizenship/immigration documentation. January 2015 Concealing IEDs Terrorists become increasingly interested in circumventing airport security screening by concealing improvised explosive devices inside commercial electronics, physical areas of the body, cargo, shoes/clothing and cosmetics/liquids.

Suspicious activity is any observed behavior that could indicate terrorism or terrorism-related crime. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Unusual items or situations: A vehicle is parked in an odd location, a package/luggage is unattended, a window/door is open that is usually closed, or other out-of-the-ordinary situations occur.
  • Eliciting information: A person questions individuals at a level beyond curiosity about a building’s purpose, operations, security procedures and/or personnel, shift changes, etc.
  • Observation/surveillance: Someone pays unusual attention to facilities or buildings beyond a casual or professional interest. This includes extended loitering without explanation (particularly in concealed locations); unusual, repeated, and/or prolonged observation of a building (e.g., with binoculars or video camera); taking notes or measurements; counting paces; sketching floor plans, etc.

 

 

 

 

 

Federal Air Marshalls

 

The Federal Flight Deck Officer (FFDO) program is run by the Federal Air Marshal Service with the aim of training volunteer pilots of commercial airline flights to carry firearms for the purpose of defending the flight deck against criminal activity.

 

 

 

To be an officer able to carry a firearm on planes, one must be a federal law enforcement officer or a full-time municipal, county, state, tribal or territorial law enforcement officer who is a direct government agency employee. ... Have completed the TSA Law Enforcement Officer Flying Armed Training Course.

 

TSA's Canine Training Center (CTC) and National Explosives Detection Canine Team Program (NEDCTP) TSA procures, trains, and deploys both TSA-led and state and local law enforcement-led canine teams to secure our Nation's transportation systems through effective explosives detection, visible deterrence, and timely, mobile response to support rail stations, airports, passenger terminals, seaports, surface carriers, and other facilities.
